The team over at Motorcar Makeovers saved my life! I was in town for a wedding on Sunday and as soon as I got off the highway my air conditioner started blowing hot air I looked at my dashboard and the temperature gauge was all the way up. I was about 10 mins away from my destination so I didn't think much would happen to my car in that short amount of time. When I reached a traffic light, the engine turned off and my car started to roll backwards. At this point I know something was definitely wrong and I needed to get it fixed ASAP.
On Monday morning I called over to Motorcar and explained what happened and what I thought was the issue. The gentleman on the phone informed me I would have to get the car to him so he could check it out. I brought my car down to the shop around 8:30am when I spoke to Scott Jacobs, the owner of the shop. I explained that I couldn't drop the car off and come back since I was only in town for the day before and I was suppose to be back in NY that day for work. Scott looked at the car told me what was wrong and said he would begin looking for the parts. As most people do, I jumped on my phone to try and get a quote to see how much the repairs were going to cost. The prices I saw were astronomical and caused me to concern. When Scott finally came to me with the estimate it was about 1/3-1/2 on what I was seeing online.
Scott gave me some recommendations on getting a tired fixed, but didn't pressure me on the topic and offered to add some air to that tire and I should be fine to drive back to NY, but he urged me to get it looked at soon. I did not feel any pressure to have other things fixed while at this location. Coming from NY where many autobody shops try and take advantage of the customer, I was blown away by the level of customer service at Motorcar. I got my car back by 10:30 am and was on my way back to NY around 10:45 and made it to work on time for 1:00pm.
I am completely sad that this shop is two hours away from where I live because I would bring my car to Scotts shop to have serviced all the time. Thank you so much for your hard work and helping me out in a time of dire need!!

When I moved to southeast Pennsylvania over a decade ago I was driving a then fifteen year old car. Needless to say it needed a little work from time to time and after visiting a few places the first couple of times the car needed some fixing I heard about Motorcar. I gave them a shot and haven't gone elsewhere since.
They were the first place I went to that even when I went in for just an oil change didn't always "find" two or three other things that needed fixing each time. And when they did find something else when inspecting the car he would show me what the problem was and explained exactly what needed to be done including what to look after it was fixed to make sure it was working properly.
And while nobody is perfect, they seem to take great pride in their work and satisfying their customers. One time I left the shop and a day later while driving heard a sound that I hadn't before. I took it back, they looked at it right away and noticed they made a mistake during repairs the day before. They apologized and fixed it on the spot (for free). A week later I received a personalized letter from the owner apologizing again for the error and checking to make sure that everything was indeed fully fixed this time.

Scott Jacobs founded Motorcar Makeovers in 1995. After working through college, primarily in the automotive industry, Scott was able to achieve a B.S. in Psychology with a concentration in Industrial/ Organizational Psychology, (Magna Cum Laude) and a B.A. in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing (Magna Cum Laude) in 1993 from Beaver College (Arcadia University).
Scott then enrolled in Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science's (now Philadelphia University) MBA program. Halfway through the program, the decision to gain real world experience became more enticing to Scott.
After re-examining various business techniques and models, achieving ASE certification as a Technician, Service Consultant and Parts Specialist, and saving up as much money as possible, the development of Motorcar Makeovers became his top priority. While concentrating on the growth of any small business in America, tireless hours and days turned into months and years.

Mike Freedman
Detailing Shop
Mike brings over 15 years of professional detailing experience to Motorcar Makeovers, meticulously restoring vehicles to better-than-showroom condition. He believes in doing things right the first time and is dedicated to helping every customer’s vehicle look its absolute best.
Andrew Carroll
With over 24 years of experience in parts and service advising, Andrew specializes in European and high-performance vehicles and is a trusted resource for customers and team members alike. His background as an Eagle Scout reflects his disciplined approach to problem-solving, and he enjoys craft beer, Philadelphia sports, and family time outside of work.
Ivens Perez
Arriving in the U.S. as a young man, Iven learned English and developed a passionate career in automotive repair and customer service, continually honing his professional skills.
He is recognized for his dedication and love of cars in every job he undertakes.
Zach Stutzman
Zach’s lifelong passion for cars grew from attending car shows and weekend events, inspiring his career in automotive mechanics and motorsports. With hands-on experience on brands like Mercedes-Benz and Subaru, he brings energy and technical skill to the team and enjoys snowboarding and building performance projects in his free time.
Robert Schlear
Robert earned his Auto Technician designation through rigorous technical training and has been a key part of the team since 2021. Known for his enthusiasm and reliability, he can often be found tackling challenging repair work and proudly maintains his workspace at the heart of the shop.
Sindy Jacobs
Administration
Sindy manages the front-office operations with experience rooted in her early work at her father’s body shop and has been with Motorcar Makeovers since 2001. She ensures efficient customer service and personalized attention, helping maintain the strong customer relationships that are central to the shop’s success.
Mike Montminy
Mike is a highly skilled mechanic with extensive experience working on European cars and light trucks, particularly BMWs, and holds factory-level training and certification. As a valued member of the team, his expertise enhances the shop’s ability to service a broader range of vehicles.
Rick Foschini
Rick has over 25 years of automotive repair experience and a degree in machine shop technology, making him an invaluable and well-rounded technician for both foreign and domestic vehicles. Outside work, he enjoys football, golf, and outdoor activities with his dog Guinness.
